“I would like to personally say congratulations to each and every student for their hard work in their GCSEs. There have been many individual successes, particularly for students who have been with us since Year 7. This has led to all students achieving the post-16 option of their choice.” David Lees, Headteacher, August 2019

16-year-old Lochlann Baker is celebrating an outstanding five grade 9 GCSEs at SET Beccles School, which puts him among the top three percent in the country for high achievement. Compared to when Lochlann started at the school in Year 7, he has achieved a grade higher than expected in all of his subjects.

Liam said: “I’m so pleased with my grade 7 in maths, I was averaging at a grade 4 but I studied really hard and I’m so happy that it has all paid off. I’m heading to Holland to celebrate with my family this weekend, and I hope to go to university in Holland after college too.”

16-year-old Maria Hill was so nervous about her results, but is thrilled to achieve three grade 8s, two grade 7s, 2 grade 6s and two grade 5s at Beccles Free School.

I didn’t get any sleep at all last night, but now I’m so happy to be heading to Lowestoft Sixth Form where I’ll be studying English Literature and Creative Media at A Level.
