Specialist Learning Centre opens at SET Beccles Forge to support and expand SEND provision in Suffolk

It was with great pleasure that Elizabeth Talbot officially opened Forge Beccles on Friday 17th June 2022, stating what a special learning environment it is.

Forge Beccles first welcomed students in September 2021, it offers specialist provision for young people with an EHCP with a primary need of cognition and learning. Within the provision students receive small class teaching and individualised interventions, supported by a dedicated and experienced team of teachers and support staff.

Students receive a broad and balanced curriculum, designed specifically to meet the needs of each student covering both the academic content whilst valuing and incorporating the development of life skills. Teaching is also planned and differentiated to ensure learning opportunities are accessible for all.

Forge Beccles students benefit from the facilities within the main school, such as the use of the specialist classrooms, for example the food technology room or the school gym as well as joining in whole school activities. The curriculum incorporates many off site learning opportunities such as students visit the local forest school weekly, and regularly visit local attractions like Thrigby Hall, the beach and a half termly visit to
the local park, to name a few. The commitment, expectations and aspirations for students in Forge Beccles mirror those for all other SET Beccles’ students.

Forge Beccles prides itself on strong values and the positive, and supportive culture within the school. Significant time each day is given to developing and nurturing students’ social and emotional understanding and skills, and students’ progress and achievements are celebrated and shared.

“I am immensely proud of the Forge community; students and staff have created a calm, settled and purposeful learning environment, where everyone feels safe and supported. The personalised and bespoke provision ensures all students are making progress with their learning and development.” Mrs Philpott, Head of School.

“The children are making great progress here at Forge Beccles, they are growing in confidence and really enjoy coming to school.” Mrs Bland, Head of the Forge Beccles.
